The editor is working as expected on the text layer level and it is not a bug. Here's why;

The text editing would not work unless you use the same characters from the original text. For example, if the Original text was CONNECT, then your new word should consist of letters like "C","O","N",etc.

These letters are converted to shapes and used.

Unless text layers are used (without converting the text to shapes. For example, https://lottiefiles.com/38752-fade-in-out-text) you will not be able to change the text.
